OPPRESSIVE AI SYSTEMS
THE POTENTIALS AND PITFALLS OF EXPLAINABLE AI
When AI systems are designed to assist humans and organizations in decision-making, how do we make sure the outcome of that decision is transparent and fair? This workshop will cover frameworks and techniques in eXplainable AI, with an in-depth discussion of their potential and limits.
TACKLING BIAS AND DISCRIMINATION IN AI SYSTEMS
How are unjust biases written into the code and models that underpin AI systems? This workshop will go beyond a surface-level discussion and cover questions of how biases are defined and identified, and present existing frameworks and concrete steps towards mitigating it.

POWER AND SURVEILLANCE IN THE AGE OF AI
How is power distributed in our world as it is, and how will this shift when AI systems are adopted at scale in different industries? How can we imagine a world where AI serves to redistribute power evenly across communities and redress inequities and injustices?
